What is Botox® (Botulinum Toxin)?
The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, most commonly referred to as "Botox", is an FDA-approved injectable that temporarily reduces facial lines and wrinkles. Botox Cosmetic is an injectable wrinkle muscle relaxer. It uses botulinum toxin type A (OnabotulinumtoxinA) to temporarily paralyze muscle. It blocks muscle impulse activity; the end result is a smoother appearance with diminished facial wrinkles.
