Semaglutide

What is semaglutide?
Semaglutide is an FDA-approved injectable weight loss medication. It was originally developed to help manage type 2 diabetes, but it has since been found to be very effective in helping patients lose weight.
How does it work?
Semaglutide stimulates activity in the areas of the brain involved in appetite regulation to reduce feelings of hunger. It delays stomach emptying. This leads to a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with smaller meal sizes. You eat less, feel full, and lose weight.
How is it administered?
Semaglutide is injected just under the skin (subcutaneously) in the abdomen, upper arm, or thigh. You will self-administer the medication once per week, on the same day each week. Our clinicians will teach you how to properly and safely administer the medication.
Is it effective?
The largest semaglutide clinical trial (New England Journal of Medicine) revealed an average reduction of 15% of initial body weight for trial participants. More than one-third of participants receiving semaglutide lost more than 20% of their weight. The trial included 1,961 adults located in 16 countries.

Tirzepatide
Semaglutide and tirzepatide are both injectable medications that treat type 2 diabetes and help with weight loss. They work in similar ways by mimicking hormones that the body produces after eating. Tirzepatide may work better for some individuals. Our clinicians will help you determine which option is best suited for you.
